Westerner Park is recruiting nominees for its Board of Directors

Westerner Park's Nominating Committee will be recruiting candidates who meet the requirements of the Board according to the following qualifications and core competencies;

  • Knowledge of strategic visioning and business planning
  • Human resources management expertise
  • Legal and risk management expertise
  • A background and knowledge in agriculture and current trends in the industry
  • Business and corporate experience, including expertise in financial management
  • Community building and volunteer service
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in non-profit or other endeavors
  • Gender balance and visible minorities on the Board is of particular interest
  • Meets all eligibility requirements of Article 9.2.1

How to Nominate a Potential Candidate

  1. Nomination Form signed by current Shareholders in good standing.
  2. Photograph/Profile: Please submit a head and shoulders photograph (jpeg format) with a plain background, with your 250-word profile together

Upon receipt of the information above, you will be emailed and asked to complete the Candidate Self-Assessment Questionnaire. If you meet the qualifications to serve Westerner Park as a Director, you will be notified by email no later than April 9, 2021, and your photo and profile will be included as a candidate for election in the Annual General Meeting Notice of Meeting package that will be mailed out to the shareholders on Friday, May 7, 2021.

About the Westerner Park Board of Directors

The Westerner Park Board of Directors, are the caretakers of the organization. They focus on the long-term strategic direction, mission, and goals of Westerner Park. They are a governance board that develops policies and procedures based on principles of sustainability, community engagement, and risk mitigation.

The Board has set out 4 strategic objectives for the organization to focus on:

  • Stabilization
  • Community engagement
  • Premier experiences
  • Governance and stewardship

The Board of Directors supports the CEO through strategic leadership and insight to ensure Westerner Park can continue to provide exceptional guest experiences for Central Albertans by generating economic benefits for the region, through the creation and hosting of quality events.

Parking fees will no longer be charged for events happening at Westerner Park. Instead, a small facility fee on each ticket will be implemented. The new fee structure will lower the overall cost to guests while helping keep Westerner Park financially sustainable. Click here for more details.
