Westerner Park Celebrates 125 Years!

October 28, 2016 | Red Deer, AB – On October 31st, 2016 Westerner Exposition Association will celebrate its 125th anniversary!

For 125 years, Westerner Park has been a celebration of everything it means to be “Central Alberta.” Born from a sense of community and a commitment to agriculture, Westerner Park has always been guided by the people, for the people. Fueled by pride in the region, its people and its potential, Westerner Park embodies the tenacity, determination and strength that defines the pioneer spirit. That spirit continues to drive us today as we address the changing needs of a growing community. Westerner Park is a physical representation of the spirit of Central Alberta, blending tradition with vision, rural with urban, and agriculture with entertainment, all the while holding fast to a sense of hope and excitement for the future yet to come.

Throughout 2016 we have celebrated our rich history while highlighting the community that supports us by encouraging involvement from the people, organizations and businesses of Central Alberta in celebrating this milestone. Our anniversary year also celebrates the foundational role the community has played in our history and we recognize that the community will continue to play a role as we engage in our successful community building endeavors.

We have commemorated our 125th anniversary with a photographic mural in the foyer of the ENMAX Centrium which has captured our rich history of community activities. We encourage all Central Albertans to enjoy the mural when attending events in the Centrium.

As we close out our 125th Anniversary year, we take pride that we have built upon our proud past and with our sights clearly on the future, we invite you to join us in recognition of our anniversary day. Let’s Make History!
