December 6, 2018 | Red Deer, Alberta – Just over one month post Canadian Finals Rodeo at Westerner Park and we are still feeling the glory that the 45th annual event brought to our incredible Central Alberta community for the first time.

Barb Miller, MLA Red Deer-South, took to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on November 20 to share her gratitude for the execution and support provided to one of the biggest events in Red Deer’s history.

“There were just nine short months to plan and prepare for the 45th year of the CFR. In nine months what our city accomplished was nothing short of incredible.” Miller said on Tuesday, November 20 in front of Alberta’s legislative assembly. “It is estimated that over $20 million was injected into our economy. Over $45,000 was raised for local charities.”

Westerner Park is proud to be recognized as the new heart and home to the CFR, and Miller did an excellent job recognizing our community’s contribution to the success of the event. “Our community pulled together: 247 volunteers donated over 3,000 hours of their time…. The first ever junior finals rodeo Rising Stars event awarded $24,000 in scholarships to our up-and-coming young athletes” Miller added. Our MLA also took pause to recognize the work of Westerner Park staff, generous event sponsors, and $250k in grant funding provided by the provincial government in making the six-day event not only possible - but wildly successful.

The 46th CFR will take place at Westerner Park from October 29 – November 3, 2019.
