Westerner Park CEO Stepping Down

The Board of Directors announced today that John Harms has stepped down as the CEO & General Manager of Westerner Park.

"On behalf of the Westerner Park Board of Directors, we would like to thank Mr. Harms for his commitment to Westerner Park over the past 18 years," said Kent Olson, President and Board Chair of the Westerner Exposition Association. "He has helped guide our organization as our facilities grew, along with our customer base and he can proudly share in the successes we have achieved. We wish John well in his future endeavours."

Added Olson, “as the Board of Westerner Park moves forward with our strategic vision, we will be looking to build on our accomplishments, under a renewed direction. We are in an excellent position to meet the growing needs of everyone who enjoys what we have to offer at Westerner Park. There is great potential for the future and we want to be an important part of the growth opportunities in central Alberta and beyond.”

“I am proud to have led the team at Westerner Park through the many changes to our facilities and numerous accomplishments,” said Mr. Harms. He added: “It is time for me to pursue new opportunities and I wish the Board, Management Team and staff of Westerner Park continued success.”

As the Board undertakes its search for a new CEO, the Board of Directors has asked Jim White, currently the Assistant General Manager, to serve as Acting CEO & General Manager.
