July 26, 2021 | Red Deer, AB – The three-day, Wagons at Westerner event held on Friday, July 23rd to Sunday, July 25th marked Westerner Park’s official return to live events. The event exceeded all expectations, welcoming guests from across Central Alberta.

July 26, 2021 | Red Deer, AB – On Saturday evening an unfortunate incident occurred during the final heat of the North American Pony Chuckwagon Championships. One of the equine athletes lost stride causing the wagon to halt allowing no time for reaction and affecting the driver behind as well.

An onsite veterinarian immediately cared for the horses on the track and determined the extent of the injuries. Unfortunately, due to the injuries sustained, one of the horses was euthanized. On close inspection of the animal and further review, it was determined a muscular-skeletal event occurred. All other animals were assessed post-race by the track veterinarian and deemed to be in good health. Neither driver was injured in the event.

Alberta Professional Chuckwagon & Chariot Association and Westerner Park are committed to the safety of the drivers and their animals, ensuring the utmost animal welfare standards are adhered to. Every possible precaution is taken to ensure the animal’s safety and wellbeing.

July 15, 2021 | Red Deer, AB – Westerner Park’s Wagon at Westerner is an event born from their continued commitment to hosting the North American Pony Chuckwagon Championships for 2021 and will take on Friday, July 23rd to Sunday, July 25th. July 12, 2021 | Red Deer, AB – Westerner Park is excited to announce they have signed a 5 year agreement with Peavey Industries LP for the naming rights of the Centrium and as their “Official Agricultural Supply Partner”. As of July 12, 2021, the Centrium will be named the Peavey Mart Centrium.
